Can’t say we are a homer blog anymore. Seems folks are thinking Sparty is playing better than the Buckeyes right now. Minnesota makes the biggest drop with a tight win over Kent State. Some movement here and there but nothing else major than the top two spots flipping and the Golden Gophers dropping.

MotSaG Top 25 Poll- Week 2

Week 2 was kind of fun, no? There was quite a lot of movers this week. None bigger than Michigan which jumped up into the top 10 this week after 2 pretty impressive home wins. More on them later and everyone else as well. Here is my top 25 for this week.

Blogpoll – Week 12

Homerism finally reached OSU is no. 1. 12-0 and beating TTUN is pretty dang awesome and regardless of what the “experts” believe this team did what no one else other then Notre Dame has done so far won every game they played.

Notre Dame will have their chance to win the title in January against either Bama or Georgia most likely but until then OSU is my no. 1 team in the land.

Blogpoll – Week 11

Week 11 and we are down to 2 undefeated teams. Ohio State and Notre Dame oh how that would be an awesome BCS NCG but alas it cant and wont be. Are these the 2 best teams in the country? If winning games matters more then anything else then I say 100% they are. If would haves or should ofs or could ofs mean something more then winning then maybe you have a different opinion. These 2 teams though have done something that 122 other Div 1 teams have not so far this season WON EVERY GAME THEY PLAYED. That matters and anyone who tells you otherwise is a fan of one of the other 122 schools who didn’t do that so difficult and yet so simple rule of winning them all.

If Ohio State is the only unbeaten team left after all the games are played then they deserve a fair shot at the AP title. They will have done something no one else did this year and that matters. If Notre Dame wins out and wins the BCS national championship game and the AP gives them their title as well so be it they deserved it just as much as OSU did.

There you have it one week left for OSU to make its pitch for an AP title and it is a biggie against a team they hate from that state up north.

Thoughts?

Blogpoll – Week 11

Bama lost so there is that. Notre Dame and Kansas St. looked pedestrian. Oregon was Oregon. Ohio State was on a BYE.

Everyone outside of SEC footprint wants to see a NCG with no SEC team in it. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise and they will try to say they want the best 2 teams in the game but deep down they just don’t want the SEC to have even a chance to win a 7th straight. The problem is with a few weeks left the odds that KSU and Oregon and ND all finish undefeated and keeping out an SEC team from leap frogging them is slim at best. Heck if some of these voters have a chance they will vote a one loss SEC team over an undefeated team (see the AP poll).

I wanted to rank Texas A&M over Bama but then I would have to rank LSU over A&M which would mean I had to rank LSU over BAMA which is just stupid. See this is how difficult it is to rank teams late in the year. So I stuck to the most part of just ranking by wins and losses at least at the top where ranking really matter.

Lastly, I was very close to ranking OSU no. 1 and if they manage to look impressive at Wisconsin this week I wouldn’t be surprised if I were you to see me rank OSU no. 1 next week.

Let me know your thoughts and or complaints.

Blogpoll – Week 10

Bama and Notre Dame survived close games. Oregon won in a shoot out. Kansas St. lost its Heisman candidate QB in the 3rd Qtr. Ohio St. Blew out a horrible Illinois team. That is how your top 5 teams did yesterday. Notre Dame looked like a bad team for most of their game versus a really bad Pitt team in South Bend no less. So I dropped them. Ohio State has a bye this week to get healthy and get ready for their two toughest games this year on the road at Wisconsin and at home against Michigan.

I won’t lie I don’t want to see an SEC team in the NCG. I am just like every other non-SEC team fan I want their reign to end. I would love to see what a game between Oregon and Notre Dame would look like or Oregon and Bama. Just to see what great offense vs great defense would look like.

Blogpoll – Week 9

Bama and Oregon are the two best teams in the nation if you ask me but it is hard to argue that Kansas St and Notre Dame dont deserve to be in the discussion. All 4 of those teams are worthy of a title shot and if it was 2014 they would all have a shot but alas it is not so some of these teams need to lose or their will be some serious CHAOS at the end of the year.

Ohio State oh how people continue to doubt you each and every week and each and every week you dont let your fans down and are 9-0. If for some reason all these undefeated teams lose a game they have a legit shot at an AP title if you keep on winning. No matter what though you have got your hands firmly wrapped around the Leaders division title and a whole lot of happy fans.

The rest of the top 25 is a hot mess. Lots of 1 loss teams and a few 2 loss teams. No 3 loss teams yet sorry Arizona but thanks for beating Lane Kiffin.

SB Nation BlogPoll College Football Top 25 Rankings »

We are at week 8 of the CFB season and we still have 11 teams left that are undefeated. Eventually this will work its self out and teams will lose. Ohio St. almost met its maker yesterday but thanks to some late game heroics they remain blemish free.

The SEC- while they clearly have the best teams at the top of the rankings overall the league is Ho Hum. Seven teams with winning records and 7 teams with losing records. Bama and Florida are the cream of the crop right now by a mile.

The PAC 12- Oregon and Oregon St are at the top right now but USC and Stanford are close on their heels. They have 7 teams with winning records and 5 teams with losing records.

The Big 12- Kansas St is the best they have right now with Texas Tech and Oklahoma up next. They have 9 teams with winning records and one team with a losing record. Thats pretty impressive through week 8.

The ACC- Florida St and Clemson is all they have period. The rest are pretenders. 9 teams with winning records and 3 with losing records and the fact that DUKE may be the leagues best team speaks volumes.

The Big East- Rutgers and Louisville are the beasts of the east. Cincy is next up but just lost to a MAC team. 4 teams with winning records and 4 teams with losing records.

The Big Ten- Ohio St. is the best and only team with less then 2 losses. Next up we have 5 teams with 2 losses that are having a hard time separating themselves. It will take the whole season to figure out who is the best in this league and that includes OSU at this point. This weeks matchups of OSU vs PSU and TTUN and Neb will clear things up some though.

I added teams this week with 2 losses over teams with 1 loss. It is only a matter of time before before some of these undefeated lose and better one loss teams move up. Thats the way I see things this week what says you?

Blogpoll – Week 7

Man I swear it gets harder and harder to rank teams the longer the season goes on. I am sticking with my theory for the time being and rewarding winning over who can beat who in a hypothetical situation. As teams lose the whole thing fixes itself.

As of right now we are at 12 undefeated teams left. Of those only 4 teams actually have a chance to get to the BCS title if it were held today. Bama, Oregon, Florida, and Notre Dame. Of the other 8 teams you have OSU (not eligible) 3 Big East teams (not good enough) 1 MAC team (Ohio who wont be ranked high enough to get an at large bid). You also have Kansas St., Oregon St., and Miss St. all of which will have a chance to prove they belong in the discussion with tough games still to play.

One loss teams are plentiful. They will need a lot of help to have any shot at the BCS title and if they aren’t in the SEC or Big 12 or the Pac 12 they can kiss their shot goodbye.

I struggle most deciding where to rank Ohio St. I am a homer for sure but I don’t want to be a blind homer. I think they could score on just about anybody but defensively they are decimated with injuries and lack of depth. They just keep winning though and that’s all that matters.

Blogpoll – Week 5

On the cusp by Conference.

ACC – Miami Fl. and Duke
B12 – Texas Tech
Big East – None
B1G – Purdue and Minnesota
Conf . USA- None
Independant – None
MAC – None
Mtn. West – None
Pac 12 – Stanford, Az. St., and UCLA
SEC – Texas A&M
Subelt – None
WAC – La Tech and UTSA

The longer the season goes the more difficult it becomes to do these polls. Each and every week now things fluctuate as teams win and lose. Teams will start playing tougher competition and proving either they belong or don’t in the top 25.

Time for me to explain myself again. I want to start with the NON-BCS conference teams first. The thing about them is it is so hard for them to get ranked unless they play and beat really good BCS AQ schools. The only other way to do it is to win every game like Ohio has. As the season progresses though you may see a team like Boise St. join the rankings again but it will depend on them winning out and other teams losing two or more games. Same with a lot of other teams that aren’t AQ schools.

Top team right now is surely Alabama. no? They aren’t very exciting but top to bottom they are the best team by a mile this year. That’s not to say they can’t or won’t lose a game or even two (it is college football and that will happen eventually).

Who is the next best team right now is a toss up. It could really be any of the undefeated teams left as all of them have glaring weaknesses and strengths. As the season progresses eventually things will play out until then it is all a guessing game and a mess.
