This concludes the non conference portion of your schedule. Please buckle up and enjoy the ride that of Big Ten conference game play. Iowa, Northwestern, Maize and Blue, Indiana are all trying to make some noise will that transfer into conference play? Will the Big Ten still have five teams ranked in the AP or by the college football committee when its all said and done? Imagine if things keep moving the way they are Ohio State can possibly play three ranked opponents at the end of the season if they do their part and win out (includes B1G Championship game). Funny it was said that the Buckeyes would only face one ranked opponent funny how things change (thanks Bret and your 3 game slide).

Hang on tight Big Ten fans its about to become a bumpy ride, remember have fun its going to be over before you know it.

The Big Ten made a huge improvement off of Week 2 last year. Only lost 2 games total for the whole conference pretty good for some of the cupcakes. TTUN and Maryland were the biggest movers in our Power Poll this week. We have 2 ties also. Minnesota and Wisconsin are tied for 3rd place while TTUN moved into a tie for 6th place with Nebraska.

Don’t forget let us know your thoughts, do you agree or disagree with our picks?

We have some big movement on our Power Poll thanks to Penn State choking, Nothwestern pulling a surprise with beating Stanford. Illinois was another real shocker with a big win after everything that happened seven days before the start of the season.

Agree or disagree with us feel free to leave us a comment telling us who you would move around.

This year we have nine members of our staff that have voted having a true MotSaG B1G Power Poll instead of it just being one of us. Ohio State and Michigan State were unanimous choices at the 1 and 2 spot. I took the rank of each member who voted then added them together to come up with the tally.

Besides OSU and MSU being the only constant seems most on the staff are kind of split about Wisconsin through TTUN. The votes for TTUN shouldn’t be that good but we will deal with those staff members later. There was major movement late putting Illinois extremely close to last since Tim Beckman was terminated.

It shall be an interesting year to enjoy again. Will also be very exciting working with the staff on this years Power Poll can’t wait to see what each week brings us (fingers crossed that maize and blue team drops).

Editor note we did have a tenth member vote and his went this way
1. The Ohio State University
2. Everyone else
13. Penn State and hope they fall off a bridge
14. The Fighting Jim Harbaughs

Will tell who all the members that voted at end of season see how constant or unbiased we can be

MotSaG B1G Power Poll Week 13

Here we are the final week of the college football regular season for the Big Ten. Excuse me while I wipe away some tears as this season has come and gone so quickly but rest assured not only is this rivalry week but many B1G teams have bowl games to play. There are three teams fighting to become bowl eligible in this final week, two play each other and one well lets face it hopefully they lose big since they are playing the Buckeyes.

1. Ohio State (10-1,7-1) The Hoosiers gave the Buckeyes a scare on Saturday but this kid named Jalin Marshall made up for his miscues the week earlier and put the Buckeyes on his back and carried them into the B1G Championship Game.
Last Week: #1
Next Game: TTUN

2. Michigan State (9-2,6-1) Sparty isn’t out of the playoff picture just yet, there are scenarios where they could possibly get a spot if that SEC keeps beating itself up.
Last Week: #2
Next Game: @Penn State

3. Wisconsin (9-2,6-1) The Badgers win and they are in the B1G Championship game to face the Buckeyes and my preseason pick comes true but they play a strong Minnesota team.
Last Week: #3
Next Game: Minnesota

4. Minnesota (8-3,5-2) The Gophers knock off the Cornhuskers to make sure this Saturdays match up is for all the marbles and a possible rematch against the Buckeyes.
Last Week: #5
Next Game: @Wisconsin

5. Nebraska (8-3,4-3) Bo Pelini’s must have used up all his cats nine lives as the Cornhuskers drop two straight and are eliminated from possibly playing in the B1G Championship game or even tying to win the West.
Last Week: #4
Next Game: @Iowa

6. Maryland (7-4,4-3) Big Ten newcomer might have knocked the Wolverines out of bowl contention and they did this without Stefon Diggs. If the Terps win Saturday and Wolverines loose Maryland will have as many conference wins as TTUN has all season. Hail to the Victors
Last Week: #6
Next Game: Rutgers

7. Iowa (7-4,4-3) Many picked the Hawkeyes to win the West saying they had the easiest path but when you don’t know what team will show up and show no consistency you fail to get your goal.
Last Week: #7
Next Game: Nebraska

8. Northwestern (5-6,3-4) Everytime you count out the Wildcats the go on some kind of winning streak and claw their way back into fighting for a bowl berth, big game for them this weekend plus bragging rights for the State of Illinois
Last Week: #11
Next Game: Illinois

9. Penn State (6-5,2-5) They are happy in Happy Valley to be going bowling but they must have forgotten that they still have games to be played in the conference after getting beat by the Fighting Illini
Last Week: #8
Next Game: Michigan State

10. Rutgers (6-5,2-5) The Scarlet Knights first year in the B1G has been tough only beating TTUN and Indiana so far. Preseason I didn’t believe they would be bowl eligible but they got there and TTUN hasn’t. Hail to the Victors
Last Week: #9
Next Game: @Maryland

11. TTUN (5-6,3-4) Every year since Brady cHoke’s first at the helm of the Maize and Blue they have gotten worse, A Buckeye win will knock the Wolverines officially out of bowl contention and will undoubtedly finish cHoke’s career as the head coach. Hail to the Victors
Last Week: #10
Next Game: @TheOhioState

12. Illinois (5-6,2-5) The fighting Illini are fighting to become bowl eligible and it may influence the decision on keeping Tim Beckman on the sidelines.
Last Week: #13
Next Game: @Northwestern

13. Purdue (3-8,1-6) We have seen improvement and growth from Darrell Hazel’s team, but the injuries were to much to overcome and the Boilermakers are still rebuilding but seem to be heading in the right direction hopefully he gets some more time to see a different relevant team in West Lafayette.
Last Week: #12
Next Game: @Indiana

14. Indiana (3-8,0-7) Can the SEC East champs win a B1G conference game this year? The battle of Indiana will be their last hope.
Last Week: #14
Next Game: Purdue

MotSaG B1G Power Poll Week 12

With two weeks left in the regular season two teams became bowl eligible this past Saturday with two on the bubble fighting to join the group. One more win by Ohio State and they are in the B1G Championship game to face the craziness that is going on for the West. Wisconsin is in the drivers seat but they have to face Minnesota yet who is still a contender.

1. Ohio State (9-1,6-0) The Buckeyes escape out of the cold frozen tundra of Minnesota Saturday with a win. Costly turnovers kept the Golden Gophers hopes alive for an upset but Buckeyes prevail.
Last Week: #1
Next Game: Indiana

2. Michigan State (8-2,5-1) Sparty beat the Terps handily but they are on the outside looking in for another Big Ten Championship game. They need the Buckeyes to lose their next two games to get in.
Last Week: #2
Next Game: Rutgers

3. Wisconsin (8-2,5-1) The Badgers had a statement win to take control of the West with a record performance by Melvin Gordon over the Cornhuskers
Last Week: #4
Next Game: @Iowa

4. Nebraska (8-2,4-2) The Cornhuskers watched their B1G Championship hope rush by them and are now needing help to get to the title game
Last Week: #3
Next Game: Minnesota

5. Minnesota (7-3,4-2) Even with the loss to the Buckeyes the Golden Gophers can make some noise and play their way into the championship game by winning their last two games but they are both on the road.
Last Week: #5
Next Game: Nebraska

6. Maryland (6-4,3-3) The Terps need some more wins to get a better bowl selection and this week they face a Wolverines team that is playing for pride now.
Last Week: #6
Next Game: Michigan

7. Iowa (7-3,4-2) The Hawkeyes bounced back from their loss to Minnesota with an easy win over the Fighting Illini and are looking to make some noise to get back into the West race.
Last Week: #7
Next Game: Wisconsin

8. Penn State (6-4,2-4) The Nittany Lions became bowl eligible Saturday but they had to go outside of the conference to get the win.
Last Week: #8
Next Game: Illinois

9. Rutgers (6-4,2-4) The Scarlet Knights became bowl eligible after snapping their three game losing skid.
Last Week: #9
Next Game: @Michigan State

10. Michigan (5-5,3-3) Even during a bye week it seems the Maize and Blue can’t stop losing. I’m looking at you Frank Clark who is currently sitting in a cell in Ohio for accusations of domestic violence. Brady Hoke’s squad has to win one of the next two to become bowl eligible and that looks like a tall order.
Last Week: #10
Next Game: Maryland

11. Northwestern (4-6,2-4) The Wildcats pull off the win over the Fighting Irish and still have their eyes set on become bowl eligible, have to win out.
Last Week: #11
Next Game: @Purdue

12. Purdue (3-7,1-5) The Boilermakers have no shot at a bowl this season and the injuries have just become to much to over come but look for them to play spoilers down the stretch.
Last Week: #12
Next Game: Northwestern

13. Illinois (4-6,1-5) If the Fighting Illini win their last two games of the season they can become bowl eligible and possibly save Tim Beckmans job.
Last Week: #13
Next Game: Penn State

14. Indiana (3-7,0-6) The Hoosiers are fighting to win one conference game this season and that will be a tough task this weekend.
Last Week: #14
Next Game: @Ohio State

MotSaG B1G Power Poll Week 11

So glad this weekend is over as there was very little movement going on since there wasn’t any key games that happened.

My anti Mark May list:

1. The Ohio State University (8-1,5-0) The Buckeyes made a statement Saturday in East Lansing and took a giant step forward as a young hungry team. Now the target is back on them and they need to finish this out.
Last Week: #2
Next Game: @Minnesota

2. Michigan State (7-2,4-1) Sparty just lost out on the chance to get a possible playoff spot and in order to get to Indy need Buckeyes to lose two of their final three games, guess Dantonio should’t have basically guaranteed a victory over Ohio State.
Last Week: #1
Next Game: @Maryland

3. Nebraska (8-1,4-1) The Cornhuskers are hoping to have a healthy Adullah against a surging Badger team. They bye was at the perfect time for them going to be a big game for the West leaders.
Last Week: #3
Next Game: @Wisconsin

4. Wisconsin (7-2,4-1) Badger QB Stave was looking good against Purdue but honestly the Boilermakers had a lot of key injuries in their secondary plus the Badgers have a possible Heisman candidate in RB Melvin Gordon to rely on.
Last Week: #4
Next Game: Nebraska

5. Minnesota (7-2,4-1) The same Gopher team that lost to Illinois a couple of weeks ago destroyed Iowa Saturday. They have a big match-up hosting the Buckeyes this Saturday trying to stay in the West race.
Last Week: #7
Next Week: Ohio State

6. Maryland ((6-3,3-2) Don’t know if a bye week is going to help the Terps play a angry Sparty team that will be visiting this Saturday. Maryland might not have the firepower to hang with the Spartans.
Last Week: #6
Next Week: Michigan State

7. Iowa (6-3,3-2) You just don’t know what Hawkeye team will show up this week and that was evident when they were thrashed by Minnesota Saturday, now out of the West picture they can try to play the role of spoilers.
Last Week: #5
Next Game: @Illinois

8. Penn State (5-4,2-4) The Nittany Lions have a top defense but an abysmal offense. They are currently one win away from being bowl eligible and will probably accomplish that but honestly don’t deserve with the terrible offensive offense we have to watch.
Last Week: 10
Next Week: Temple

9. Rutgers (5-4,1-4) The Scarlet Knights coming off a bye look to win their second B1G game and become bowl eligible and that can happen with a win against the hapless Hoosiers this Saturday.
Last Week: 8
Next Game: Indiana

10. Michigan (5-5,3-3) The Wolverines made it to .500 break put the bubbly. If it weren’t for the bad play calling from Pat Fitzgerald and the terrible execution of the 2 point conversion the maize and blue really don’t have much to cheer about.
Last Week: #11
Next Game: Bye

11. Northwestern (3-6,2-4) The Wildcats continue to show how to blow wins against Michigan and found another way to do it in a different fashion.
Last Week: #9
Next Game: @Notre Dame

12. Purdue (3-7,1-5) Purdue has officially been eliminated from bowl eligibility, the injuries were to much for them to overcome. They have become a better team than last season and are still playing with tons of heart.
Last Week: #12
Next Game: Bye

13. Illinois (4-5,1-4) Tim Beckman and company are trying to get this team to become bowl eligible and try to save his job.
Last Week: #13
Next Game: Iowa

14. Indiana (3-6,05) The Hoosiers are in bad shape with their QB spot and it has made a for a long year
Last Week: #14
Next Game: @Rutgers

MotSaG B1G Power Poll Week 10

It’s November we gained an extra hour of sleep so we can feel well rested while watching some great games coming up this month. Rumor has it might be a pretty big one this weekend, big enough to lure that four letter network to do their college football show from a B1G campus. The Big Ten now has seven bowl eligible teams.

1. Michigan State (7-1,4-0) The B1G Champs are coming off a bye well rested and well coached going to be a tough Sparty team to beat in East Lansing for the Buckeyes
Last Week: #1
Next Game: Ohio State

2. Ohio State (7-1,4-0) Buckeyes tie their consecutive conference win record at 20 in a row, win number 21 will be a tall order facing Sparty in East Lansing. This could be the biggest conference game of the season including the championship game.
Last Week: #2
Next Game: @Michigan State

3. Nebraska (8-1,3-1) Adullah gets hurt and the Cornhuskers keep rolling, this is the perfect week for a bye
Last Week: #3
Next Game: Bye

4. Wisconsin (6-2,3-1) The Badgers look like they are starting to roll after shutting out the Scarlet Knights. QB Stave only had 81 yards passing but the running back duo of Gordon and Clement had 259 yards.
Last Week: #4
Next Game: @Purdue

5. Iowa (6-2,3-1) The Hawkeyes are another team looking like they might be putting it together to make their push for the West division spot in the B1G Championship game.
Last Week: #7
Next Game: @Minnesota

6. Maryland (6-2,3-1) The Terps kick a field goal with less than a minute left in the game to win in a hostile Happy Valley. Maryland becomes bowl eligible in their first year in the B1G.
Last Week: #6
Next Game: Bye

7. Minnesota (6-2,3-1) After a week of licking their wounds the Gophers look to bounce back and take some charge in the mess up top of the West division.
Last Week: #5
Next Game: Iowa

8. Rutgers (5-4,1-4) The Scarlet Knights have really been struggling in B1G play their lone loss coming against TTUN. They only need one more win to become bowl eligible and they will have to wait two weeks to see if its possible.
Last Week: #8
Next Game: Bye

9. Northwestern (3-5,2-3) Getting thumped by Iowa and their ground game wasn’t fun for the Wildcats but look for a bounce back game as they struggle to try to become bowl eligible.
Last Week: #9
Next Game: Michigan

10. Penn State (4-4,1-4) Back to back losses in Happy Valley never a good thing for the Nittany Lions, maybe a road game will help them straighten things out but injuries are really showing their lack of depth issues.
Last Week: #10
Next Game: @Indiana

11. Michigan (4-5,2-3) The Wolverines are really just playing out the rest of the season for pride. Athletic director Dave Brandon resigned and now its looking more and more like Brady Hoke is just a lame duck coach in his final month as the head coach in Ann Arbor
Last Week: #13
Next Game: @Northwestern

12. Purdue (3-6,1-4) The Boilermakers have so much more work to do to improve and injuries are mounting up.
Last Week: #11
Next Game: Wisconsin

13. Illinois (4-5,1-4) The thumping the Fighting Illini took from the Buckeyes isn’t helping Tim Beckman look comfortable saving his job this season.
Last Week: #12
Next Game: Iowa

14. Indiana (3-5,0-4) The Hoosiers remain the only team to not win a conference game and they beat the runner up SEC champs Missouri seems strange doesn’t it. Take that four letter network.
Last Week: #14
Next Game: Penn State

MotSaG B1G Power Poll Week 8

The byes just won’t stop!!! Hey I know the kids need a break and get some of those injuries taken care of and we will soon have a full slate of Big Ten games going on. Currently there seems to be a Top 4 (in the B1G) still in the college playoff picture. In reality it might come down to the winner of Michigan State and Ohio State but Nebraska and Minnesota have an outside chance but they still have a chance. Many college football teams watched their chances fall by the wayside this weekend like Iowa, Rutgers, and some non B1G like Oklahoma.

1. Michigan State (6-1,3-0) They didn’t let Indiana feel comfortable in the game for long. Sparty put the Hoosiers away with ironically the same exact score that OSU had against Rutgers.
Last Week: #1
Next Game: Michigan

2. Ohio State (5-1,2-0) The Buckeyes welcomed the two newcomers (Maryland and Rutgers) to the B1G in a big way. After the VT loss OSU is averaging over 50 points a game and look like they are improving week to week. Nov. 8th is getting closer and looming larger as long as both teams stay focused until then.
Last Week: #2
Next Game: @Penn State

3. Nebraska (6-1,2-1) The Cornhuskers showed the Wildcats they still aren’t a top tier team in the conference yet and Abdullah is the man and Tommy Armstrong looked good Saturday.
Last Week: #3
Next Week: Rutgers

4. Minnesota (6-1,3-0) The Gophers squeaked by a much improved Purdue team. Buckeye fans remember even a one point win is a win.
Last Week: #5
Next Week: @Illinois

5. Maryland (5-2,2-1) The Terps bounce back from the Buckeye beating to crush Iowa’s playoff hopes.
Last Week: #9
Next Week: @Wisconsin

6. Wisconsin (4-2,1-1) Coming off a bye to play Maryland hoping they have their QB situation figured out.
Last Week: #8
Next Week: Maryland

7. Iowa (5-2,2-1) The Hawkeyes waved goodbye to their playoff chances with their loss to Maryland Saturday. They seem to be a Jekyll and Hyde team this season.
Last Week: #4
Next Week: Bye

8. Rutgers (5-2,1-2) The Scarlet Knight received a rude introduction to the Horseshoe Saturday and a thumping. The Buckeyes showed no mercy to the newcomers and Rutgers walked out of Columbus no getting a sack, an amazing stat.
Last Week: #6
Next Game: @Nebraska

9. Northwestern (3-4,2-2) After the hot conference start for the Wildcats they have been cooled off with back to back losses.
Last Week: #7
Next Game: Bye

10. Purdue (3-5,1-3) Oh so close Boilermakers!!! Almost pulling off the upset, Purdue is heading in the right direction even though looking at the record it is hard to tell.
Last Week: #10
Next Week: Bye

11. Penn State (4-2,1-2) The Nittnay Lions will be hoping that during their bye week they are able to patch up that horrific offensive line before the Buckeye visit this Saturday.
Last Week: #11
Next Week Ohio State

12. Michigan (3-4,1-2) The good no one has been fired yet and the Wolverines haven’t lost back to back weeks this season (thank god for the bye). The bad they have to visit little sister and one week isn’t enough to fix their offensive line that Sparty will feast on.
Last Week: #12
Next Week: @Michigan State

13. Indiana (3-4,0-3) It’s going to be a long season for the Hoosiers and having to burn a redshirt for a QB didn’t help matters.
Last Week: #13
Next Week: Bye

14. Illinois (3-4,0-3) The Tim Beckman watch is on. I am sure moving companies are calling him offering him their services.
Last Week: #14
Next Week: Minnesota

As always I look forward to hearing from you.
