Good morning Buckeye Nation.

T. V. Time: The Big Ten Network made a couple of announcements with regards to Ohio State Women’s Soccer and the Buckeyes Women’s Field Hockey teams.

The Big Ten Network will televise the regular season final match between the Buckeyes and the Northwestern Wildcats being played in Evanston, Ill on November 1st at 3pm. Ohio State will be having seven returning starters and seven newcomers on this years squad. They report for practice tomorrow and have a scrimmage against Miami at 4pm August 22 at Buckeyes Varsity Field.

The Buckeye women’s soccer team who begin season play on August 23th against Morehead State in Columbus will have three matches televised on BTN. The games against Indiana at 3pm on September 26th, at Wisconsin at 12:30pm October 6th and a 3pm match at Penn State on October 17th. The Buckeyes will have seven returning starters from a team that finished second in Big Ten regular season play last year and they also won the B1G tournament. You can see the women’s soccer team play an exhibition game against Miami on Friday in Columbus.

Rankings: The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches preseason Top 25 poll came out yesterday. The Big Ten has the most teams in the current rankings with your Ohio State Women’s Team having a presean ranking of 23. The conference looks to be very strong this season with Penn State (2), Minnesota (6), Michigan (7), Nebraska (10), Michigan State (14), and Purdue (16) all in the Top 25. The Buckeyes open the season at the NIU Invitational August 30-31st in Dekalb, Ill.

August Starts: Other Ohio State sports that will begin this month besides The Ohio State Football who open the season on August 31st at the ‘Shoe against Buffalo at 12pm is the Men and Women’s Cross Country teams. The Buckeye runners will take part in the Flyer 5k Challenge in Kettering, Ohio. Also the Men’s Soccer team will have three exhibition matches this month with the first one in Morgantown West Virginia against the Mountaineers on the 18th at 3pm.

Hall Of Fame Dinner: Ohio State Athletics 2013 Hall of Fame Dinner tickets are now available to purchase. There is 14 men and women being inducted this year, the dinner will be held at Archie M. Griffin Ballroom at Ohio Union on Sept. 27th and begins at 5:30 pm.


Mr. Hall of Fame: Today former Buckeye Cris Carter will be officially introduced into the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, Oh. Carter was an All American in 1986, in his Ohio State career he finished with 168 receptions, 2725 yards receiving, 16.2 yards per catch and 27 touchdowns in three years. Congratulations to Cris Carter one of my favorite Buckeyes.


Tennis Coaches: Bryan Koniecko and Justin Kronauge both were promoted to the women’s and men’s tennis teams. Both were former players and they understand the tradition of the programs. Congrats to both Koniecko (2006-09) and Krnauge (2007-10).


Canadian Camp: Julia McKinnon a sophomore women’s ice hockey player for the Buckeye’s has been invited to attend Canada’s National Women’s Development Team selection camp. McKinnon a native of Kelowna, British Columbia is one of 40 players invited to the camp taking place at the Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary Aug. 10-18th.


New Assistant: Buckeyes former All American Gabby Capuzzi was named the new assistant coach replacing Amanda Belichick who went back to her alma mater Wesleyan University as their new head coach.

What the…. : This falls under what the.. where can I get one of those!!

Buckeye All-Stars: Junior Jaron Long and Sophomore Trace Dempsey will be some of the pitchers on the West team All Stars. The two Buckeyes are playing for the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Collegiate League. The game will be this Saturday at 4:30 pm in Yarmouth, Mass and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Channel.

Oh Captain: Woman’s Field Hockey head coach Anne Wilkinson announced the co-captains for the 2013 season. Arielle Cowie and Nora Murer, both seniors, were selected with the honors for the first time.

FNL: Tomorrow night is the Friday Night Lights camp at The ‘Shoe. Check out our preview written by Dylan, he did a great job finding out whats all going on and who will be attending.

Safety Camp: NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Buckeye
s head coach Urban Meyer will be holding a safety clinic August 1 st, 2013. The clinic is a Mom’s Football Safety clinic that will have classroom instructions from experts and on-field training from Ohio State coaches and former players.

Time to Step Up: Doug Lesmerises of the Cleveland Plain dealer talks about Curtis Grant. Grant is a linebacker that has the spotlight on him this year. He came to Ohio State very highly touted and unfortunately hasn’t been able to live up to the expectations. Last season he was replaced by Zach Boren who was their fullback. Urban has even commented that they are keeping a close eye on him and he has seen improvement in him this spring. Buckeye Nation is pulling for you Grant.

Connections: Possibly one of Braxton’s offensive linemans’s for next year?


2014 stud OL prospect Demetrius Knox tweeting out to Braxton Miller. Knox has the Buckeye’s on his list of schools to play for. Our man Aaron did an awesome interview with Demetrius. He would look really good in Scarlet and Gray.

Officiating: Bill Carollo sits down with the Big Ten Network to discuss how the officials have to change the behavior. Carollo is the Big Ten Officials Coordinator and he talks about the new rules and penalties for the upcoming 2013 football season.

Quiet Man on Campus: Tim May of the Columbus Dispatch sits down with Braxton Miller. This is a great interview with Miller and May talks about how he stays out of trouble.
