On July 26 Ohio State is hosting some of the top talent in the country in a camp Called Friday Night Lights. This is an event that Urban Meyer created in his second year at Florida however he has brought it to Ohio State and this will be the second year Ohio State has hosted this event and it is looking like it is going to be even better than ever. Friday Night lights has numerous challenges and multiple Buckeye greats giving instructions and helping teach the upcoming stars what it takes to be great.
The writer at 247sports got a great picture of what the scoreboard looked like while the players warmed up.
Ohio State has released their schedule for the activities that are going to take place and here is how it is going to go down:
• Registration starts at 6:00 PM and ends at 6:30 PM.
• All the campers get welcomed by OSU Coaching Staff
• Strength & Conditioning
• Individual Drill Instruction
• 1 on 1, Pass Rush, Skill vs. Skill Workouts and most fans favorite even is the smoke house race between each position group which can be seen on the last video!
• And to end the night off the players receive a dinner
Ohio State has always attracted top recruits to every camp they put on however this camp is different than any camp they have for the rest of the year. Friday Night Lights is a camp on steroids and the players get to enjoy their time listening to their favorite music and competing head to head against the best players at their position.
Ohio State has a large list of prospects attending along with quite a few of our commits such as Damon Webb, Marcelys Jones, Jamarco Jones, Sam Hubbard, Lonnie Johnson, Kyle Trout, Terry McLaurin, Kyle Berger, Dylan Thompson and Sean Nuernberger. Here are a few of the bigger names that are currently uncommitted:
• 2014 LB Raekwon McMillan (Hinesville, GA) -this is the number one player left on Urban’s radar. 5 star linebacker is bringing his family with him on this trip, which is never a bad thing.
• 2014 DB Erick Smith (Cleveland, OH)- Another glenville recruit who will probably wait till signigng day to commit but we need to make a huge impression to secure his commitment.
• 2014 ATH Marshon Lattimore (Cleveland, OH)- This is the same story as Erick Smith , we need to convince him that Ohio State is the right school for him even if he does wait the whole process before he decides.
• 2015 QB Lorenzo Nunez (Kennesaw, GA)- Ohio State has already offered 4 quarterbacks for next year but Lorenzo came to camp and after the first few throws he was offered on spot, Urbans track record with QB offers means he is a kid that will show off his great talent and might be the best qb at Friday night lights as a soon to be junior.
• 2015 DE Jashon Cornell (St. Paul, MN)- The number 1 rated defensive end according to 247 is high on the buckeyes list and the feeling is mutual. Look for him to dominate the offensive lineman in one on ones.
• 2015 AT Eric Glover-Williams (Canton, OH)- This is just one more important visit for the most explosive 2015 players in Ohio who is a huge Ohio state lean this could be the weekend he pulls the trigger.
• 2015 LB Darrin Kirkland Jr. (Indianapolis, IN)- He is rated as the number three inside linebacker and this is his second trip to Columbus, he currently does not hold an offer but do not be surprised if he performs well to see him earn one.
• 2015 ATH Jerome Baker (Cleveland, OH)- Urban wants him to be one of the first commits for the 2015 class and Jerome is taking every step in the right direction to becoming it by visiting and getting to know some of the 2014 commits and 2015 prospects.
• 2014 ATH Curtis Samuel (Brooklyn, NY)- Curtis became a late addition to the list however we are happy to welcome this athletic freak to campus and show him the time of his life. This is one of the last skilled position players Urban would be willing to take which should tell you something.
Here is the complete list thanks to eleven warriors
Here are a few videos from last years Friday Night Lights so you can get an idea of what the camp is all about!
I wish the B1G network would televise things like this…. would love to be able to see it.
