Matt Keller days left

Today’s countdown shout-out goes out to el Kaiser’s Favorite Fullback ever — Matt Keller. #23 played in the late 90’s and is still Ohio State’s All-Time Leader in receptions for a fullback and will be forever at the rate we throw to the FB now.

Enjoy guys, only 23 days until the season kicks off.

Will Terrelle Pryor be a 4 year starter?

Yesterday at a news conference in the ‘shoe Terrelle Pryor discussed several topics including how he was a horrible teammate the last 2 years and how he has matured as a person and a player.

I for one welcomed all that talk from TP and enjoyed hearing him speak openly about his issues and progressions as both a player and a person. I must admit I hate his new errrrr 1985 Kid N Play hairdo or as I like to call it hairDONT.

The most important thing he talked about though which can be seen HERE was….. Terrelle Pryor wants to make a legacy at Ohio State and put his footprint in a positive light. In doing so he said he would be coming back to tOSU next year to play football with his fellow Seniors to be.

I think a lot of people (maybe myself included) are wondering if he meant it or if he might change his mind if he has a breakout year. Personally though I want to believe him and hope he is telling the truth. I think his NFL career could benefit a ton from another year in college and well tOSU could benefit from having him as well. If for no other reason then to be here to help Braxton Miller and to give him the redshirt year off to learn the system that TP never was afforded and hence putting Braxton in a better posistion to succeed.

So Mr. Pryor I say kudos to you for opening up and for at least for now doing away with the talk about if you will turn pro this year or not and getting that distraction out of the way for you and the team.

Congrats go out to Dick LeBeau

Former Ohio State DB Dick LeBeau was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame today in Canton Ohio.

Mr. Lebeau who grew up in London, Ohio just outside Columbus played both running back and corner back under famed OSU head Coach Woody Hayes and won a National Championship in 1957. He was Drafted by the Cleveland Browns but was cut as a rookie (I guess the Browns didn’t have good talent visionaries back then either). He went on to play 14 years in the NFL and is in his 36th year as a coach in the NFL. He is most well known for his coaching and as one of the best Defensive gurus ever in football but he was a Hall of Fame player and coach so it is only befitting he enters the hall as a player now and continues to be a Hall of Fame coach for as long as he can.

I can only assume that LeBeau was one of the first Silver Bullets ever at OSU and I am proud to say that for the 50+ years since he played at OSU the team has continued to show him the respect he deserves by playing the best defense in college football year in and year out.

So from all of MotSaG and its readers we wish to say congrats on a most deserving place in the Hall of Fame and thank you for making all of Buckeye Nation proud.

Matta lands a promising young Freshman

Umm did I mention that he is a Freshman… in HIGH SCHOOL. Ok, so maybe he will be a sophomore in about a month but still he is a Freshman.

Coach Thad Matta made an offer this week to 6’7″ Marc Loving out of Toledo St. Johns High School. The young man and I stress YOUNG slept on the offer for one night before calling Matta to accept the offer saying it was his life long dream to be a Buckeye. Recruiting experts say this young man is a star in the making and has the ability to play and be just like Evan Turner. Those are big shoes to fill and probably will never be realized but if he becomes half the player as ET he will be great.

Just in case Matta is reading this blog (which I am sure he is) I have an 8 year old son who can dribble and make 1 out of 25 shots on a regulation height rim. He is accepting verbal offers and will decide before he turns 9 so give us a call asap if you want him in a Buckeye uniform soon.

Like shooting dead fish in a barrel

Seriously, Bleacher Report, where do you find these people?

My head started hurting when I tried to diagram that second sentence. I’m going to go lay down.

2010 Pre-Season USA Today Coaches Poll

The Ohio State University is ranked No. 2 in this years pre-season poll.

The Big Ten has 4 teams in the top 14 with Iowa and Wisconsin and Penn State helping to gain our conference some needed respect. If you add in Nebraska that is 5 teams in the top 14 in the nation. That is UBER impressive in my mind and telling of the kind of teams we have here in the midwest.

It seems as though the world has yet to get rid of pre-season rankings that I can only assume if they did would solve the world peace issue once and for all.

I think if you look at the rankings most will agree that OSU is right where it needs to be and maybe just maybe it earned back some of the respect it had lost and the coaches at least looked at this team and not 2006 or 2007 to base this pre-season ranking on. Only time will tell if they got it right or not but I am just glad to be ranked No. 2 right now and am ready for the games to begin ASAP.
