Buckeyes blow out Gators

In what has turned into a seemingly every year thing Thad Matta has recruited another outstanding Freshman class and together with a strong upperclassmen group led by David Lighty they easily beat the no. 10 Florida Gators by 18 points 93-75 in Gainsville no less.

The game was back and forth through the first 30 mins of the game with both teams shooting the ball well. At halftime Florida had a 41-38 lead off of shooting the ball 60% in the first half and beating the Buckeyes on the boards 17-7. After halftime Florida started turning the ball over A LOT lol. Giving up 18 TOs in the game. Florida fed off their home court crowd early but the Buckeyes never seemed to fall to far back and you could sense at any point they would take over the game with the better overall talent and SUPERIOR coaching.

The Buckeyes were led by Lighty and Sullinger each with 26 points and a combined shooting of 22 of 28 from the field. Sullinger also led the team in rebounds with 10. Will Buford had a good night with 16 pts and 8 assists. Jon Diebler chipped in 14 points off of 4 of 7 three pointers. The game was one by OSU keeping control of the ball with only 8 TOs on the night compared to UFs 18. The only area OSU struggled in was rebounding where they lost that edge 26-17. Can anyone tell me what Dallas Lauderdale does for this team?

Overall I was completely impressed with the way they played offense and defense. In a hostile atmosphere so early in the season with a bunch of cupcakes coming up for the Buckeyes they will have a chance to get the bench and younger players more involved in the game. Aaron Craft and DeShaun Thomas both played in this game and looke fairly good for true freshman but it is clear Sullinger is the main stud on the team and the upperclassmen will be the backbone that keeps the team moving forward.

So kudos to Thad Matta and his team with a great early season win over a top 10 school every Buckeye fan loves to HATE GO BUCKEYES and screw the gators and the SEC.

  1. what does lauderdale do for this team? are you retarded?

why do i still subscribe to this blog?

  2. @ nick- Beats me why you do but I haven’t gotten any of your subscription payments ever either hmmmm.

P.S. you didnt answer my question by the way. He had 2 points and 2 rebounds and 2 fouls and 1 block and 1 TO. The guy is 6’8″ tall and weighs 255 pounds and is like 45 years old and all he can get is 2 rebounds and 1 of them was one where every other player on the court for both teams were down court by 30 feet after a missed free throw.

So please tell me what does he do for the team? What is his role? He cant score. He cant rebound. He cant pass the ball. He gets beat up on the boards by people half his size. If his role is to simply be a body on the court I feel like any OSU student could do that and give his scholarship to some other huge guy who can at least rebound.

I suppose I should answer your questions so I wont be a hypocrite. The word “retarded” is so not very politically correct anymore and some people would take extreme offense to such a horrible name being said. But alas no I am not at least not that I know of lol. If I were would I know I was? I am not sure I would so I am going to say no I am not “retarded”

Why do you “subscribe” to this blog well my guess is because of the awesome writings of OTHER people and not me lol.

  3. @nick – I think it’s a legitimate question. Lauderdale is a liability on the offensive side of the ball, and when he isn’t swatting lesser talent’s shots out of the air, he really does contribute much.

I thought this team looked like they were in mid-season form. I think Florida may have been a little overrated, but they are still a decent team with some good athletes. But with the experience of Buford, Lighty and Diebler with the raw talent of Sullinger and the up-and-coming Craft I think this team is going to do good things this season. They’re going to be fun to watch.

  4. Lauderdale isn’t that good, but he is a physical player under the glass and can block a shot or two.

On this team Sullinger will cost DL playing time for sure. When OSU plays teams with good front courts DL will play more often.

  5. “Buckeye’s”? “Gator’s”? Dude…..

  6. @P – come on, cut us a little slack. We’re all not English majors.

  7. @P ….. thanks for the help I am sure thats all you meant was to help me out on my error 😉

@ el Kaiser I sure do know how to get people to comment lol. Who knew such a basic nuts and bolts post would bring out so many replies lol.

  8. Just a pet peeve, nothing personal for sure.

  9. @P- yeah it isn’t like you questioned why you subscribe to a free blog lol. No offense taken by me with your earlier reply. I fully welcome any and all help in making me a better writer.
