Alright, who’s the wise guy?

Turns out, the wise guy in the AP Poll is Joe Giglio of the Raleigh (N.C.) News & Observer. You can see in the sidebar to this article the reasoning (more here):

“To me, Michigan’s best wins, Notre Dame and Wisconsin, are more impressive than Ohio State’s best win, Texas,” Giglio said Sunday.

So why the change, after he had ranked Ohio State No. 1 in previous weeks?

“Because Texas lost,” said Giglio, referring to the then-No. 4 Longhorns’ loss to unranked Kansas State on Saturday. “To me, Ohio State’s best win gets knocked down. I vote on what team has done the most, and what Michigan has done is more impressive than what Ohio State has done.”

Rrright.

So he’s the AP wise guy. What about the USA Today/Coaches poll?

  1. “…what Michigan has done is more impressive than what Ohio State has done.”

Are you kidding me? Someone needs to take this guy’s vote away. If you wanted to compare the two teams, why would you compare Notre Dame and Texas? Why not compare OSU and UM’s common opponents, of which there are six, (seven, if you count the OSU/ND bowl game from January).

A quick survey of each team’s performance against those common opponents clearly shows that OSU performed much, much better against all of them than UM did.

Hmmm…. sounds like a blog post in the making. šŸ˜‰

  2. This guy is clearly retarded. Monkey makes a great point about OSU dismantling of common foes by almost twice the points that Michigan. ND is impressive??????????

  3. The big kicker is the Computer Average used in the BCS that has Rutgers ahead of Ohio State.

Michigan, I can handle. Notre Dame/Wisconsin vs. Texas is a debatable point.

    But Rutgers?!?

  4. Sorry, but I am still laughing that Baby Jesus posted his comments on this….. Love that screen name.

The guy must be a fool. I hope OSU proves he’s an idiot on Saturday. tOSU will have all of the votes on the morning of January 9, 2007.
