Texas’ starting cornerback Tarell Brown was arrested today on weapons and drug charges.
Brown is expected to cover OSU’s Ted(dy) Ginn, Jr. during this Saturday’s matchup.
No word yet on whether or not he will play — although, Mack Brown is a fine coach, and I’m sure he’ll do the right thing (by sidelining Brown, that is).
I’m sure we’ll have more to say about this later this week. Stay tuned…
Update: As B.O.N. mentioned in the comments, Brown and Gatewood have both been suspended for Saturday’s game against Ohio State.
It has just been reported that backup safety Tyrell Gatewood was also involved in the arrest. Just thought you should know.
Hmm, I’m torn about this type of news. Yeah, it’s too bad for Texas that one of their starters may miss the game, but I want to win fair and square. I want 11 starters going up against 11 starters, straight up.
This is a story we’ll be watching nonetheless.
It is completely fair …..if you fall asleep in a car with marijuana in the car and a Loaded 9mm handgun in your hand on your lap while you are snoring and a Texas Ranger is staring in the window looking at you. You deserve to be suspended. But, I will venture to say that he wont be suspended for this weeks game “due to the innocent until proven guilty mumbo jumbo”. Mark it down now he will play Saturday.
Mack Brown’s statement:
“…At this time, we are holding them out of all team functions as we gather as much information as possible before making a team decision.”
I hope you’re not right, SYR. But that statement sure sounds like a trial balloon to me.
Even being removed from team functions, which I assume means practice, could have an effect, though. Not to mention the distraction factor.
What\’s killing me is that ESPN never mentioned this (that I noticed) during the \”Full Circle\” ESPN 360 crap they had for the Miami/FSU game. What a joke. If this had been an OSU player they would have mentioned every chance they got.
Brown is out for Saturday.
Whoops.
I never heard any of this up here in cheese country. Very sad to think it’s not as important to know about as Bret Favre and his team playing like crap!
I for one was not thrilled with the shorter game. Although I’m for anything that makes the Buckeyes No.1, I just felt like, while watching the Badgers that the “underdogs” won’t have a chance. Maybe I’m wrong, but thats what I thought watching the Badgers.
