We’re planning on taking the kids to their first Spring Game today, so I doubt I’ll be able to watch much of it before they get bored, but the DVR will be working overtime so I can catch it on my own. Are you planning on going?

We’ll also be watching the NFL draft with interest when we get back!

Update: Spring game (the half I’ve seen already was great) but I just came in from some yardwork and saw that Beanie fell all the way down to the 31st pick? That was unexpected, to say the least.

I didn’t get a chance to catch the game on TV (due to a nasty habit of working from nine to five) but thanks to 97.1′s streaming of their broadcast, I was able to listen in on Paul Keels calling the game. Things didn’t look good with five minutes left, but all’s well that ends well, so we’ll take it.

We’ll see Michigan State tomorrow at 1:40 PM. Three times a charm, right?

Beanie Wells is fast. The internet is atwitter with the performance of one Chris “Beanie” Wells at Ohio State’s pro day today. Word is that he pretty much killed it, running at least forty yards in under four and four-tenths of a second. Those in the know seem to think that is rather rapid. From what we hear, this speed is unheard of north of the Mason-Dixon line.

Some Swedish dude took off almost all of his clothes to hit a shot out of the mud at the WGC-CA Championship at Doral yesterday. He’s getting a lot of credit for his dedication to his craft. I’m not impressed. I’ll show you dedication: I’ve written well over half of the MotSaG posts in my skivvies. Even when the heat is turned off and it’s 50 degrees in the house. That’s dedication.

Finally, Delonte West showed teammate Ben Wallace and the rest of the world how to rock ‘fro.

First, there’s this:

(h/t to friend of MotSaG Kade. [Sorry for the terrible soundtrack])

Some thoughts on the past week in Buckeyeland:

We didn’t need anyone to tell us this, but Andy Staples lists Ohio State among four “destination jobs” for football coaches. This we knew. Those court-side seats in the Schott aren’t filling themselves.

Some Buckeyes impressed at the NFL combine (Donald Washington and (surprisingly) Brian Hartline) while others really didn’t. A lot of people are still questioning Beanie (re: injuries). Here’s the only question you should be asking yourself (if you’re an NFL GM): “How big of a signing bonus should we give him?”

The Buckeyes finally got out of their funk against Penn State earlier this week. This team still has some issues (vis-a-vis Dallas Lauderdale and his inability to contribute anything outside of his five fouls). With P.J. Hill starting and combining with Jeremie Simmons for 27 points, it’s promising to see other Buckeyes take the pressure off Evan Turner. Turner is still trying to do too much but he’s learning.

Well that was fun, let’s see if we can’t do this more often.

Recent reports out of the Senior bowl are coming out and some Senior Buckeyes are starting to impress. Both Marcus Freeman and Brian Robiskie are looking good according to Dayton Daily News:

Former Wayne High School and Ohio State linebacker Marcus Freeman received rave reviews from NFL coaches and scouts for his technique, athletic ability and motor. Freeman is fully recovered from a foot injury that plagued him all season and it showed. He looked totally rejuvenated. He demonstrated great sideline-to-sideline pursuit while running down backs during drills.

and

Ohio State wide receiver Brian Robiskie was absolutely impressive. He caught every pass thrown his way no matter where the ball was placed. He ran nice, crisp routes and made every catch look easy.

NFL.com’s Charles Davis is also impressed with Marcus Freeman. I’m wondering if his injury was worth than anyone ever let on. He always seemed a step off, missing that extra oomph he had last season.
